Gram Sewa Mandal, Gopuri is an organization founded by Acharya Vinoba Bhave and his associates in 1938 with vision of working towards developing self sufficient villages by working in the sector of Khadi and village industry. Continuing the tradition of creating Khadi along with hundreds of women artisans, the organization is currently working on research and development of production of Khadi using organic desi cotton varieties; developing techniques to support rural livelihood generation; providing opportunities of dignified incomegeneration to these folks in their own villages. Their mission is to communicate philosophy of “Khadi” to the wider society aiming at mindful consumers of ‘slow fashion’ with the conservation of old traditional mud houses with participation of youth and modern environmental perspective.
